Co-op

Multiplayer & Co-op

How to Fish supports 1–4 players in online co-op on Steam. Multiplayer is built around shared progression on the host's island, with each player controlling their own character and gear.

Roles in Co-op

In co-op, the host's world is the active world. Each player brings their own gear, but quest progress and unlocks are shared. The cleanest role split is one player on fishing, one on sales and inventory, and one or two on combat for boss fights and threats. Roles are flexible — switch when the situation demands it.

Steam Co-op Support

Online co-op is provided through Steam. Each player needs their own copy of the game. Lobby invites go through Steam Friends. Cross-platform play is not documented as supported — all players must be on PC / Steam.

Patch & Save Support

Co-op sessions require matching game versions. Steam keeps clients patched automatically; if a player cannot join, the most common cause is a pending update. Saves are host-side, so progress carries over between solo and co-op sessions on the same save.
